Mendocino Art The town of Mendocino is a charming village on the California coast about a four-hour drive northwest of San Francisco through the beautiful Anderson Valley via Hwy 128 from Cloverdale, down or up Highway One and west from Willits through forests on Hwy 20. Mendocino’s remote location and charm have made it an extremely favorable spot for photographers, artists, and romantics from around the world. Long a haven for artists beginning in the 1950’s, Mendocino is famous for its art galleries, restaurants and trendy shops. This community of artists is supported by the Mendocino Art Center which is an educational institution and in September hosts an annual plein air paint out, along with other fun events. Mendocino Artists' Co-op is another location where you can see an extraordinary sampling of works by some of the best local artists. Historic Fort Bragg is only ten miles to the north just past the fabulous Botanical Gardens boasting dahlias in July and rhododendrons in March, and a fabulous fundraiser for the hospital in August. Glass Beach still has some beauties, and the new coastal trails are sure to delight and enchant. Be sure to visit the Noyo Center for Marine Science kiosk while you’re exploring the cliffs and headlands in the area The Web site logo is from Suzi Long Mendocino Artist: www.suzilong.com
